Gnokii SMS paging

• Provide notification of server events when not in the office

• Linux software for interface to Nokia mobile phones enabling the sending of SMS messages

  • Implemented mail to SMS gateway using postfix, gnokii and a simple LDA we developed called gnokii-deliver (source available on request)
  • Mail system provides guaranteed delivery through retry queing

• Management server sends email alert through mail to SMS gateway

• We really want to know if the server room aircon fails in the weekend and the servers are cooking while running on UPS

• Cost client a second hand phone and minimum SMS plan
