Appleshare and ghostscript PDF printer

• Innovative solution to remove the requirement for commerical Acrobat software when creating PDFs

• Implemented server based Appleshare PDF printer using netatalk and ghostscript

  • Finds out logged in user using custom MacOS 9 client daemon (tux), LDAP, appletalk ARP requests and rwho protocol
  • Print job is converted to PDF on the server using ghostscript postscript converter
  • PDF is written into the users file server home directory
